Thursday, July 9. Two more nights of luxury before Mark and I become
nomads with an as yet undetermined itinerary. Might be hard to get used to
after this!
I knew it would happen. If I don’t write every day, I forget
what has happened. This is not that difficult since the days blend into each
other.
There was the day that we hiked up to the fortress ruins and
were joined by a very cute brown bearded dog that seemed to be part mountain
goat. In the same bay was Ali Baba’s Restaurant, set in an unlikely spot. There
was a dock, and a restaurant, and that was it. In the restaurant, lo and behold
we finally found the towels that we have been searching for! Who would’ve
thunk? And we even did a good job bargaining, since the shopkeeper/waiter told
us quietly to not tell anyone else. ;-)
There was the morning swim where Brandie, Dan, Mark and I
watched a man come by boat to feed and water the goats, and where we were
amazed by the number of sounds that goats can make.
There was the hike that Vanda did on her own that made us
all have a new rule -- Nobody hikes alone. Mark and Neena went to “rescue” her
(although in the end she didn’t need the rescue) but when we watched her from
the yacht she appeared to be stuck on the summit of a rock face. Gave us all a
pretty good scare.
And there was the second waterski day where I put my
back out. But it didn’t stop me from riding on the “ringo” – why it is called
that I don’t know, since the name on it says “Jobe Scream”. Now THAT was super
fun!
